Given the pace of updates on this site, and the rate of change coming to Yonge street, this post could still be on the front page here long after Remington's itself is gone.
While this blog only saw two updates in the past year, the blog on my main site – matthewpiers.com – has had over seventy-five. Out shooting today with my little Fuji camera. I tried to use the zoom lens, but couldn't resist my core nature, and switched to my 60mm macro for most of the day.
And remember that my current work can be found on matthewpiers.com these days.

They're photogenic little beasts, but aside from that I'm stumped.
These are from Toronto's newish aquarium, which I visited for the first time this weekend. The spotted jellies in the first two photos are quite small, so they were photographed with my Sigma DP3M, while the larger animals in the last three photos were recored with the DP2M. This has been a very uneventful winter with very few storms and almost no snow accumulation. We've had cold, and plenty of wind, but not much actual weather. It was almost nice to be able to walk home in it for a change, even though it was pretty trivial by 2014 Matthew Robertsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04134787874718415563noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8575466.post-29769308671843854482014-12-31T22:26:00.001-05:002014-12-31T22:26:14.103-05:00Happy New Year VIThis is in danger of becoming my longest-running photo series. It may not look like much, but I'm told that it makes the steel panels that line the TTC's escalators. That makes it one of the highlights of my day.

I've been making more of an effort to work in monochrome this month, although my original plan to use it exclusively never worked out. Sometimes colour is important, but I still can't decide if this is one of those times.

I've discovered that I need a really compelling reason to leave the house before noon, but sometimes it's worth it.

Harvey takes care of streetcars, which are the first three photos, while the Duncan shop is the heavy service facility for the bus fleet. Local garages take care of running repairs, but this is where the major work and rebuilds happen.

I still haven't finished going through my photos from Chicago in May, yet this one is from New York City – and not my June trip, the August one. Neither trip was primarily about taking photos, but naturally I still brought a couple of cameras with me.
This blog is coming up on its ten-year mark, which means it traces my Matthew Robertsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04134787874718415563noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8575466.post-18539172524383048742014-06-20T16:36:00.000-05:002014-06-20T16:39:18.216-05:00RampChicago is unusual, and possibly unique, in that much of the downtown core is built in tiers of ironwork and pavement. "Street level" in this photo is one above, and there's another roadway layered below. Exploring this network, which isn't all that inviting or pedestrian-friendly, was one of the major goals for my trip.
It doesn't make a tremendous amount of sense that I would leave my Nikon Matthew Robertsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04134787874718415563noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8575466.post-15654145979003235372014-06-09T20:55:00.000-05:002014-06-09T20:55:12.955-05:00MCAThe Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art. I figured that if the bus stop sign was worth being put in front of such a grand entrance then it must be important.

Love the BMW warning sign. "Caution! People have more money than you."
The sign to tell people to pay inside instead of at the entrance suggests that some jokers have figured out that buying a hi-viz vest is a great way to make quick cash. I'm not sure why they Matthew Robertsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04134787874718415563noreply@blogger.com0
