Pattern of ice formed by the breakup and refreezing of surface ice on standing water in pond.

In what is surely one of the signs of the Apocalypse, this combination of photos took an Honourable Mention in the Intermediate category of my club's annual Nature Photography competition.

The image titles must have had a lot to do with it.

Farm for Sale

An abandoned farmhouse north of Toronto.

Yellow Daisy

Last night this image was auctioned off to benefit the Sanfilippo Children's Research Foundation, where it set a record for the highest price ever paid for one of my prints. Thank you to those who bid, and to all of those who have helped raise funds for this worthy cause.

I have broken the links to hundreds and hundreds of photos, which will take a long time to repair. The workaround is to replace "photo.matthewpiers" in the link URL with "matthewpiers.smugmug". Awkward, but only temporary.

This is happening because I have revamped matthewpiers dot com. More of what I write and photograph will be going there, so check it out as well.
